Standard and Policy Works
GSI actively participates in the formulation, launch and implementation of regulations, standards and codes of practices initiatives by Bureau of Indian Standards and Bureau of Energy Efficiency and provides all necessary inputs and details required for the Architectural Glass and Glazing system (window, door, curtain wall, etc) and its associated materials.
The following are the Standards, Codes and Quality Control Orders for Glass, Glazing Systems and its associated materials in which GSI is part of the respective technical committees and has supported the respective Government Organizations for the formulation, launch and implementation.

National Building Code 2016 |
The National Building Code of India is an instrument providing guidelines for regulating the building construction activities across the country. The Code mainly contains administrative regulations, development control rules and general building requirements, fire safety requirements, stipulations regarding materials, structural design and construction (including safety), building and plumbing services, approach to sustainability and asset and facility management. |

Mandatory ISI Marking for Float Glass |
The ISI marking of float glass was made mandatory from 1st January 2021 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards. The standard to be followed is the Indian standard IS 14900:2018 transparent float glass specifications. The marking is to be done only after obtaining a license from the Bureau. |

The ISI marking of safety glass will made mandatory from 1st April 2021 as per the order by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards. The standard to be followed is the Indian standard IS 2553 (Part 1):2018 Safety Glass -Specification Part 1 Architectural, Building and General uses. The marking is to be done only after obtaining a license from the Bureau. |

Eco Niwas Samhita 2018 |
The code sets minimum performance standards for building envelope to limit heat gains or limit heat loss through it. The code gives the following provisions to this effect through Building Envelope and roof. The code also sets minimum building envelope performance standard for adequate natural ventilation and adequate daylight potential and applies only to 2 types of residential buildings such as private dwelling and apartment houses. |

This program specifies the energy labeling requirements for Residential buildings in India. This program is applicable for all single and multiple dwelling buildings in the country for residential purpose. |
