The purpose of setting up technical facilities are the following :

• Testing of Glass, Glazing systems, Associated materials and Glass buildings for its performance and confirmity to standards and codes 

• Research to further understand Glass and Glazing technology, Applications and Characterization of all Materials involved.

• Education for the Students, Scholars and Associates 

Building technical infrastructure involves, purchase / custom makes the equipment required for testing, training of the staff handling the testing at the facility and support with all technical inputs and details required by the facility. GSI customize the equipments with the right specifications required for testing at 1/10th of the cost of the similar equipments imported to India and create a pool of manufacturers for the same for the benefit of glass and glazing industry.

GSI supports the Glass and Glazing Industry for creating testing infrastructure at their plants / factories for in-house quality and performance testing.

GSI in collaboration with its respective academic partners has established three world class state of the art testing, practical education and research facilities in India. GSI has supported over 20 Indian glass manufacturers and processors till date for setting up of their complete or part in-house testing labs including equipments and training of the staff on testing.
